Love the show, just found the podcast.

I loved the narcocorrido band video! For some reason, it seemed reminiscent of Robert Rodriguez's 'El Mariachi'. The tortuga concept was as big a surprise as the "this isn't meth" explosion scene from last season. I also loved the "Blowfish" scene, great stuff!

Just do this for a former audio engineer: please don't hard pan all the mics. I'd personally rather listen to a long talk show on an AM radio than voices all in one ear or the other. Remember, most podcast listeners are in headphones.

I agree;

What I do is open the audio file in my editor and use the "stereo expander" option to reset the right and left channels to 100%( the right channel is at 50% with the left at 100% in original). Then just save it and the audio is "easier" on the ear and "centralised".
Hope this helps.

Here's the deal with the mics:

The first 3 podcasts were done in mono with all of the voices 'center-panned'. But we found that when we started having more guests and they all started laughing or talking at once, all the audio would turn to mud and you couldn't hear anything that was said.

But, keeping everyone panned either left or right let you hear just about everything. There are many times when Vince (or someone else) will say something during a time when others are laughing that is totally muffled and missed with a center-pan.

However, if they are downloaded they can all be re-configured in iTunes to be center-panned mono if individual people want to do it that way.
