Win a Winnebago (Toy Model): Week VII
Here's your chance to be the proud owner of a toy-sized version of Walt's Winnebago. Tell us: What would you like to see happen in Season Two?
Once again, we'll randomly pick a winner from the answers and award a replica of the RV from the show.
We're giving away a miniature model every week, so be sure to check back for next week's question. Find out after the jump who our lucky winner was last week.
Question: Do you think Walt has passed the point of no return?
JPB2: "WALT HAS CROSSED THAT LINE. I remember thinking thoughts when I first became a dad myself "would I kill to feed my kids?" As morbid as that sounds it must be a guy thing because other friends pondered that thought as well. Obviously Vince has tapped into that primordial father thing that might be ingrained in our DNA. It still does not excuse Walt's choices. His kids were not starving and nobody was going to debtor's prison if he dies."

I never saw crazy 8 disappear are we sure he is dead? bring him back
Thats a good question. What did they do with his body? Is he rotting in the basement?
Na, someone on another thread said he might be at the school in a drum. They could have a dream sequence and bring him back... what do ya say?
A student discovering Walt's cooking operation would put him in quite a pickle. So many ways to go with that (i.e. blackmail).
Walter's point of no return was when Walt "did" Krazy8. Walt burried him in the foothills east of the Sandia Mountains is my guess.
Behn,
I never thought of that, getting a minor involved in his world would be reprehensible. Seeing the affect on a student OD in class would be an interesting subject. Telling at least.
Walt has passed the point of no return without a doubt. One could use multiple examples as the reason, but ultimately, he reached that point in the first 30 min, of the 1st show. The moment he found out he had terminal cancer was the moment he decided to stop letting other people live his life for him. He realized his situation, a new baby, a physically impaired son, his wife, lack of money, no insurance...and knew that in order to secure their future he had to do something--quick. The first mention of the amount of money Hank had recovered from his latest bust and Walt was "in". From that point on everything that happens is a dirrect result of that first decission.
a2z
what would you like to see next season? a new source of income other than cooking?
Well after all that's been said and done, and seeing the conversation between Hank and Walt about the line between whats leagal and illeagal, I'd like to see Walt go all out and learn to be a real bad ass, not just the scared unknowingly criminal he's become...And just for kicks, Add Hank into the operation for insider "Breaking Bad" influence!!!! HAHAHA ya follow me so far? What the hell, Walt will die anyway and Hank said he will take care of his family. Hank is recruited to bank the money he'll need to support everyone and he gets the line on all METH dealers and distributors arrest them all in the end....a win win situation!
DeeJay,
So your saying Hank would become a willing partner? Boy he is going to have to transform a bit more than cuban cigars. He is such a do-good wanker. Ha!
What would I like to see in season 2? Walt has created Mercury Fulminate that looks like his prize-winning Meth, and has used it to good effect against the kingpin of the South Valley. If he wants to expand outside the South Valley, perhaps north of Central or into the University area (do the students like Meth there?) or into Espanola, he may want to buy some Mercury Fulminate from Walt. After all, if he could be surprised, so could his competition! Just think what would happen when anyone tries to 'sample' the Mercury Fulminate by breaking it up with the butt of a knife... bang!
Honestly, I really don't think Walt has passed the point of no return. I think from what we've learned about him so far is that he can flick his on and off switch very easily. The day he can flick that switch off for good is the day that this series is over. I don't really see this happening anytime soon, seeing as how this series is just getting started.
I would like to say bravo to AMC and creator Vince Gilligan for delivering us all such an amazingly creative show that has both brilliant writing and exemplary acting.
What would I like to see happen in season two? That's quite simple actually. I'd love to see more of that rich and interesting back story of Walt's. From the time with friend Elliott Schwartz to his mysterious relationship with his wife Gretchen. Let's hope that some of Jesse's past could be revealed as well, seeing as how we have already been introduced to the Pinkman family. Fleshing out characters like that can really further along such a phenominal series on TV.
I'll be happy to see a season 2, period. There's been too many times I've loved a new show only to end far too prematurely. That being said, I'm interested to see how Walt some semblance of normality as his business grows. With the great acting and superior writing, I'm sure the show will continue to be great regardless!
I'd love to see more development of the relationship between Walt and Jessie. By that I mean Walt seeing Jessie for the otherwise decent kid gone astray he was when he told him *Apply Yourself* back in school. Perhaps trying to protect or save him rather than dragging him deeper into the ugly word of meth.
Dare I say father figure
Even though I've already won, I would like to answer this.
I, too, would like to see the relationships develop. I want to know what happened between Elliott, Gretchen & Walt, even if it's just all in Walt's head. Skyler has mentioned Walt's mother. What's up with that? Walt and his son. They've hinted at a previous closeness, but we haven't seen it.
I would like to find out more about Hank and Marie...what makes them tick. Why does Marie steal things when Hank evidently has money to buy them for her, or for that matter, she could buy them herself? I'm really intrigued by that.
I've thought for a while that this show could go on and on in flashbacks until it's all tied up with a bow. As much as I will miss it when it is all over, I don't want it to end that way. It's a horrible cliche, but life is messy. Things are left unresolved and you never quite know someone's perception of the events that take place. I would like for it to get to the point where I'm "OK" (whatever that means) with the end result, but I can tell from right now that it won't be pretty. In fact, I think it'll be pretty damn sad.
Well maybe not season 2 but some time Walt should be found out by his family or at least Skyla or Skyler im not sure what the name is i think its Skyler but skyla actually has the advantage that ive heard that and so she ither gets involved with the production or tells her brother and Walt takes off in the winebego
I second the earlier answer of just seeing a season 2. This show is too good to not continue. As for what would be in season 2, I'll leave it up to Mr. Gilligan - I want to be surprised!
DRKellog,
I second the though of deeper Hank and Marie character development, There is a twisted pair of personalities under the surface there
Pamala,
I think Walt already is a faux Father figure to Jesse, forcing Jesse to step up to the bar of life and go to college part time might be a interesting subtext to an already complex relationship.
Jesse becomes increasingly dependent on meth and Walter has to stage a private intervention. Jesse enters rehab and Walter is left to run the show alone until he emerges, clean.
I think an interesting tangent might be Jesse learning that one of the petty dealers in Tuco's (sp?) network has started targeting middle school kids, including his younger brother (perhaps from another meth fiend he meets in rehab?) and is forced to deal with that. He goes to see the guy and accidentally kills him and then he and Walter are left to cover up another murder, this time from their distributor buddy. The whole situation becomes increasingly desperate.
Hank ramps up his focus on Walter's operation and becomes a bit obsessed with learning who "Heisenberg" is, but remains dismissive of any notion that it might be Walt. But his discussion about the case, combined with the strain of chemo, will lead Walter to start having anxiety/panic attacks.
Season Two ends with the whole thing building to a cliffhanger. Walt's anxiety is worsening and Jesse is on the verge of a meth relapse. Tuco wants them to ramp up production because the product is so good that it's becoming known by a brand name on the street. Hank begins to suspect Walter knows more about his inventory loss than he's letting on. Skyler gives birth and the extra kid puts a good strain on the White family budget.
I would love to see Ms. Drama Queen Marie involved somehow - and not in her little snitchy face way, like drag her down into the mess somehow.
The only way to yank Walt out of this is if Jr. somehow gets wind and tells his father to cut the crap.
On the other hand, if he really is dying - who can blame a guy for going full "bad ass" to ensure his family's future?
I would like to see Walt falling down and consumed by his new found culture of selling meth.
First id like there to be more than 7 episodes a season, why so short this season? I love this show, but a few episodes were a little slow and not much happend for a couple episodes. As far as some ideas for next season maybe walt should take out the meth lord chico or whatever his name is, he is kind of an ahole to walt anyways, and take over all operations, i can see alot of things happening once that happened, also it might be interesting to see what happens if walt decides to use some of his own meth creation, that could lead to some interesting things also, but anyways when is season 2 gonna be?
I love love this show! Bring it back soon! Season 2;I'd like to see Jesse start to respect Walt and realize he has learned something from him, that way Walt's illness will finally have an impact on him.Maybe Jesse will be the one to miss Walt the most when he dies.....Of course I still want Jesse to still be the jerk he can be so well!
I would like to see more of walts son. I'll never forget the moment he called his dad a pussy. It changed the character so much with that one statement.
Walt has definitely passed that line.
I am just surprised that despite the murders and meth cooking, it has yet to catch up to him...
I agree jpb2 More Walter White Jr.!
Johnsilva,
I agree Walt is going to have to dance with the meth lord eventually. Maybe he could get his brother in-law to do it for him.
Stars ,
How can our hero that we are all invested in "fall down" as you say. We all cheer for him when he becomes a vigilante!
I would like to see a couple sub plots...
1. I would like to see some development of Walt Jr. He is the poster child for the kid every parent wants. he has a severe disability, but yet he gets along well in life, so it seems. Maybe he gets hooked up with some closet meth heads at school, that buy from Tuco.
2. Jesse is an awesome character....a deep down inside good kid gone bad. He just isn't quite as bad as a trypical meth head is. I would like to see him get a girlfriend. She could bring new sub plots in her baggage.
3. Maybe Jesse's little brother comes back into the picture as a runner for a dealer. He is already smoking weed.
So many potential sub plots.
I just want season 2 to start.
:)
BTW...I can't tell the cast how much they entertain me. This is some of the best TV on TV.
Tony Blackburn,
Your number 2 is a great idea. So many girls are lured by the spending habits of a drug dealer and caught in drug infested lifestyle. Great subtext life lessons if developed.
i would like to see the brother in law hank get involed and help to protect walt. i want to see them take over tucoes business and make alot more money. iwant more................breaking bad
Thoughts on Season 2:
1. The real estate lady finally gets suspicious and reports possible drug activity in the house, which puts Jesse on the DEA's radar, further complicating the relationship between Walt and his brother in law.
2. The sister in law eventually gets arrested and they decide to do an intervention, which mirrors the Walt intervention from Season One.
3. Need to choose the period of time, and whether Skyler is going to have the baby or not. Once she does, she'll be totally engaged and not as able to interfere with Walt's new career.
4. Need to decide whether Walt's still in treatment, remission or progressive cancer. That is the thing that will totally frame the season. I'd like to see Walt go into remission in ep 3 or 4, so he can go back to work. I think the classroom aspect is important for his character to remain grounded.
5. Much as I love to see "Detictive" Sanchez on a new show, Tuco scares the heck out of me. Not sure how the season will follow their working with him and eventual break away, unless either Walt or Jesse or Tuco dies at the end, because it's just that kind of relationship.
6. I'd like to see more flashbacks to know how Walt met Skyler, what things were like when Walt Junior was born, etc.
7. I really would like to see Walt run into that Native American janitor again and give him some cash. It bothered me that he seemed like such a nice guy, and he got messed up.
yes to the above qeustion. walt has reached to point of no return. selling dope is fun and easy cash. it is hard to stop dealing, so yeah things are going good for him on the show and stuff ......
Dallen,
I dont know If Jesse has what it takes to take over Tucoes business.
Thistle Tat,
Yeah, Real estate people NEVER give up. We cant have seen the last of her! Haaaaaaaaaaaa
How about Walt feeling so lethargic from his therapy decides to try "just a little" of his creation? Then, decides "what the hell, I'm dying anyway" and really starts abusing it! As the meth takes over his mind, he decides to get rid of Tuco cuz' that way he can have even more cash, which is the other drug he just can't get enough of!
Walt, on one hand with the big house, the hot girls, cars, tons of cash and the DEA closing in, while, on the other hand trying to maintain his relationship with his family, which is slipping through his hands!
MJR
Wow that will kill my hero worship if he starts hittin the pipe!
I'd like to add my support for just being satisfied to have a season two. Only seven episodes out of the gate?? What torture for us!
I get the feeling it's going to be a long wait :-(
If if helps to have additional ideas (like you need more - HA)
Walt gradually and consistently gets sicker and Jessie really steps up to the plate. Jessie even goes as far as taking some Community College chemistry without mentioning it to Walt. Jessie doesn't realize that taking chemistry attracts some DEA attention. Walt finds out quite accidentally when Jessie's picture is among several others that are spread out on Hank's kitchen table. Hank causally mentions how dumb these kids are that they register for only a single class - and its chemistry.
I think Sis-in-Law "Clepto-Marie" should get in cahoots with our man Walt...in a business sense only. As of the season ender, he knows something about her...and it's only a short time before she's got the skinny on him.
Her hubby (Marie's) is a testosterone laden chap with a badge, and she doesn't want to ruin her gig as a cleptomaniac with champagne taste.
And our man Walt is trying to make a fast buck to help his family before his (supposed) eminent demise. He will be found out eventually by Marie and who better than sis-in-law.
They both have a "reputation" and don't want to give up their livelyhood (so-to-speak). He is brilliant and his current situation ..well...desperation has no bounds. She has a passion for the thrill and the act of stealing "things" but doesn't want to jeapordize her way of life. It's the only thing they can both control without interference....until now. Plus Marie has a very distinct opinion about things, with a dab of unstableness. No romance...NO NO NO...just an agreement to not rat each other out, and cover each others A$$.
Of course, I would like to see what the story is behind Walt and his former dorm-mates (The B'Day boy with the taxi-cab ears?) current wife. She was VERY concerned about Walter. And his newly found sex-drive which has escalted along with his new hobby "peaks" my curiousity (no pun intended)
Hmmm, a devoted terminally ill husband/father; a determined brilliant chemist that is unsettled with his acheivements thus far and a raging sex machine with stories yet to be told.
It's a match made in TV heaven.
On a side note..
It's also a joy to see ABQ again...I moved from there in 1998 back to ATL. You have to be there to enjoy the quirkiness of the high desert. I was there for only 4 years, Hatch green chile, gun shots in the night outside Kirtland, balloon Fiesta..Ahhh the smell of METH in the a.m. (just kidding guys!!!)
I think an RV is the epitome of the show, freedom in a fishbowl. The whole world in front of you...but you still have the baggage that you take with you...all packed up neat and tidy in the RV. Bones, Secrets, and few bullet holes to boot.
Lance
interesting twist idea that Jesse take chem. 101 and the idea are flagged. I wonder if big brother really does have it's tentacles that deep in our lives?
Doreen,
Clepto and Walt teaming up hmmm..... I wonder if the clepto gene is in the same vain as the danger seeking gene. Or the rush they get from crossing the line?
1st off this show is amazing.
Walt needs to get a better story for his time away.
I'd like to see him visit a shooting range, to prepare for the unknown.
He may even bump into his brother in law.
Jesse could become incarcerated leaving a sticky situation to solve for Walt.
In season two I can envision Walter being forced into taking out the madman Tuco. The final episode demonstrated to Walt the horror that this addict was capable of doing and I imagine that he will be packing a little bit of personal protection the next time they meet. At least I hope that he sees it the same as myself for his own safety.
How long is the wait? Deliciously savoring this site until the return of the new season. Thanks to all involved in this hit show!
In season two, I would like to see Hank and Walt finally meet up. Hank knowing that Walt is the new Chef in town, but can't go after Walt because Walt holds such a secret about Hank that could destroy his career. Maybe a secret about Hank cheating on his wife or something. Just my .02
Devilbabytales,
Ya, Walt starts packing! what kind of guy do you think he is? 38, 45, glock or a fully automatic might be necessary for tangling with Tuoco. Or should he should stick with what he knows? Better life through better chemistry. Bombs Away!
IBatman,
Yeah Walt needs some leverage on Hank. Someone before suggested the shoplifting as leverage. I dont think that or a Cuban cigar would be enough leverage.
In Season 2, I would like to see Walt's increasingly illegal decisions continue to be difficult for him. There have been suggestions that he become a "bad-ass," but I think that would be a mistake. Some of the most interesting moments in this fantastic show have been Walt's moral struggle over issues such as killing Crazy 8. In a show like 24, that would have taken only moments to do. But for Walt, it's a life-changing action, and one that took nearly a full two episodes. That's part of what makes his character so compelling.
Noah,
I agree with you, that internal struggle ying/yang, ego/super-ego IS what I love about the writer's for the show! Writers for the show if you read this, YOU DESERVE A RAISE
I'd like to see Walt be forced to explore the consequences of his actions (such as encountering a meth addict with kids, etc...).
Awesome work Mr. Cranston! Too bad the season was so short, looking forward to season 2.
Odin,
Yeah seeing a OD in school is what I would like to see, Young teenage meth addict pregnent mom maybe?
In season two, I would love to see Walt bail his clepto sister-in-law out of a jam. This in turn would get the two of them into a tighter bound eventually leading her into the world of meth. She would begin to start using herself and leave Walt comtemplating his own decisions. Keep up the great work, can't wait till season two.
I think an interesting storyline would be to have some third party discover the meth cooking, but rather than turning Walt and Jesse in to the cops, he/she decides to blackmail them for part of their money. Thus, Walt and Jesse have to decide how to handle that - pay the third party, "take care" of the third party themselves, sic Tuco on the third party, etc....
Another interesting storyline would be to have Walt go into remission, and then have to decide how to deal with the meth cooking. In theory, he was only doing it to leave money for his family/pay for treatments, but now that he's better, does he stop, or is he addicted to the easy money that selling drugs generates?
BillRasmussen do you work for amc or this blog or the show? Just wondering, and by the way walt trying his own creation was my idea
It might be interesting to put Walt in the middle of a drugwar. Not emphasizing on the shoots out, but on Walt's helpless position when both sides of the war demand he works for them or dies, eventually even involving his family life. Without his family knowing, their lives are in danger and he needs to protect them without letting them know.
Walt's murder of Crazy 8 was not really the point of no return in my opinion. He tried to pick up normal life and the reason he failed, was due to lack of money. He has only now passed the point of no return. He only now realizes that he's literally in this deal with Tuco for life. Since the product is so successful and Tuco now expects 4 ounce every week, he can't step out, even if he wants to, without having to deal with Tuco and probably gets him killed.
I am a big fan of the show and would like to see a new character. I think somehow Tuco should be taken out of the picture leaving Jesse and Walt monopolizing the marketplace... they can produce large quantities at little to no cost.. their overhead is taken care of! Tuco is a loose canon that can only end in more trouble. Jesse could learn a lot from Walt and turn what he has into even more. They need minions of their own running around and selling their product... Also the moral dilemma could be a flash forward to the future "Holly" new baby in a world where meth is running rampant actually herself being a meth head or a here and now where a meth head commits a violent crime against somone he knows/loves..... even a car accident with a meth head at the wheel would work... just a couple ideas... whatever they do i am sure it will be great!
Johnsilva,
No I dont work for amc I just love this show an dcommenting on it. Sorry If I seemed to take credit where credit is due,. My bad!
@BillRasmussen: I DO work for AMC, and I say keep commenting!! We're all loving all of your contributions!
Clayton,
Thank you, I think your doing a bang up job here on the site!
i think hank should find out about what walt is doing.walt think he is busted but hank wants a piece of the action for protection.walt surprisingly lets him in for a percentage and bust all the other meth dealers.jesse gives hank all the info on all the other meth dealers he knows.hank end up receiving dea officer of the year and a piece of jesse and walts business.
Great, great, great show! Couple of ideas here. I'd like to see Walt junior get into some trouble with some school bullies, and Tuco and crew come to his defense so to speak. I'd like to see the real estate agent figure out what is going on and find herself in a similar situation to Crazy 8. This is the best show to come on television in a long, long time, thank you!
I would like to see Walt "diversify his portfolio" -- perhaps manufacturing LSD or MDMA.
That could lead to the following soliloquy by Boy Wonder Jesse: "DUDE, I'm a f****** tweaker! I don't know S*** about acid [Ex]! THOSE people are SERIOUSLY TWISTED...Do you know what acid [Ex] does to your brain?"
I hope Walt makes it.
I joined Episode One about halfway through & caught the balance on the encore presentation immediately afterward. I am so glad I did. Try it yourself. Without the benefit of the initial flashback sequence, it is totally different. My exact quote to my wife the next morning: "The single greatest TV program I have seen in a decade." Please keep it up.
See you at Emmy[TM] time...
Neonyeti,
Expanding his "Better life through better chemistry!" I agree there is a ton more drugs he could be manufacturing that have less negative social impact
The idea of Walt trying Meth makes me shudder.
I think 'neonyeti' has an awesome idea. Maybe Walt uses a bit of GrayMatter's resources to design a completely new drug. Walt and Jesse pass a few samples out along with the weekly meth batch and it catches on. This would free the writers up to fictionalize some really interesting drug affects!
It's clear that Walt is having very paternalistic feelings about Jesse.
I think Walt has to figure out a way to save Jesse from a life in drugs. He will somehow sacrifice himself by allowing Jesse to turn him in, thus saving Jesse.
In the end Walt will leave a pile of cash for his family, push Jesse away from him and away from his miserable life. Jesse gets a fresh start in his life and his family gets some financial security.
Walt gets a year of wild excitement and passion before he dies of his illness.
I think Walt could go right back to teaching after he makes hundreds of thousands of dollars and his cancer goes into remission! The scene would be the start of a new semester at school and he would have a knowing smile and start his class with something ironic, which, of course, he would only be sharing with the tv audience!
I don't think Walt has passed the point of no return. He was closest I think when he was faced with killing Crazy 8. He struggled with that task and wasn't finding it in himself to murder. He was going to "do the right thing" and let Crazy 8 go, only when it became a clear cut case of him or me did Walt result to murder. I think if Walt was given a clean bill of health and his future was given back to him, that he would stop the cooking for sure. He is taking drastic measures only because he is faced with drastic circumstances.
Williamturner,
That is an interesting thought, but do you think that once Walt has suckled from the teat of "feeling alive for the first time" he could go back? After all, once you've seen Paris...
I don't think he passed that point yet, but the things he would have to do to put things back to normal... much worse then what he has already done.
That said there are a couple small things I want out of Breaking Bad, many seasons and its release on bluray. Until then I have the on demand menus already memorized.
I can't wait for Season Two...Walter should go into remission. Skyler has earned a different (bigger and better) house. Maybe one near Jesse's? Jesse definitely needs a girlfriend. So does Walter, Jr. How about having Hank & Maria move in with Whites so they could interfere with the entire household on a regular basis. Hire on the actor Danny Trejo. Call his character 'El Duke"? Albuquerque is referred to as the 'Duke City' and Trejo has the presence to be the tough boss who hides a big heart . (I just saw the movie "Con Air" which he was in). Finally, no good series is without a pet or two. How about a Chihuahua and a Bull Dog?
I don't get addicted to TV shows, for "commitment" reasons, mostly... but... this show is as addictive as meth. One of the best things I have ever seen on TV. I learned the hard way that episode 7 was the last of the season, after getting comfy on my couch... then... pop! - episode one all over again. (of course I watched the whole thing)
Whatever you decide to do with this show, please avoid clichees, as you have so far. One of my recommendations would be to somehow involve Hank in this, it would be cool if he knew about the cooking, but his hands are tied (maybe because of his clepto wife).
And leave it at "anything can happen". Jesse should make it, he is a good kid. Kill everyone else for all I care.
I can picture Walt running into Hank working undercover. Marie could be shoplifting to hide the fact she is buying drugs and needs money. I like the way Jesse wants to clean up his life as Walter's goes "bad".
Clearly the best show on television.
People talking about what kind of weapon Walt would choose...Cattle prod or Stun gun. Or knowing that Tuco Samples product Maybe a Bad Batch. Walt doesn't like violence but when he does commit acts of violence he does it with raw style.
By the way tell Comcast to put the old episodes back on On Demand.
First a longer season!! A minimum of ten episodes (14 would be nice, but I realize AMC doesn't have the funds for that.) I would like to explore the relationship between Jesse and Walt. They have great chemistry. Jesse is an amazing actor. I cant believe the chemistry those two have.
When does season 2 Begin? You've got everyone on the edge of their seat waiting! I hope it's soon, as you've got one of the ONLY exciting shows on tv to watch!
Let's have Walt and Jesse begin climbing the the power ladder with Tuco's boys, tired of Tuco's death grip on them, coming to them directly to overthrow Tuco! They will then have another problem, Tuco trying to kill them.
This news then gets to Hank and he and closest agents who decide to get a piece of the
cash pie Walt is enjoying for their protection!
Walt would then have free reign over ABQ's meth business.
Tuco's determination to eliminate Walt and Jesse forces the two to sell their homes and live in a "compound" so to speak, like in the Godfather, armed guards, the whole bit! As well as the DEA on the payroll! No more teaching at the High school for peanuts just full on wheeling and dealing!
An added bonus would be Walt's cancer going into full remission and Walt dealing with his new disease, power! Walt begins thinking like Jesse and Jesse realizing it, begins to think like the "old" Walt and tries to keep Walt in check!
Having twists, turns and surprises that keep the audience saying "Holy Crap"!!
Let's have season 2 last longer than 1 did. I have to admit, for the first time in many years there's a show that has me longing for the next season to begin!
