I have been wondering why Walt is a school teacher that seems to be paying for his own cancer treatments. Did I miss something?

Please tell us that there will be more of this compelling, wonderful show. I look forward to this show more than any in recent memory. Truly outstanding, kudos to you. I'm sure you will win lots of awards. The writing and acting is superb. Thanks again.

Hello Vince and CONGRATULATIONS I am an extra in the PTA scene right behind Anna & Craig and on the preview. WOW! You are a very talented writer. I would never have watched this if I were not in it, too rough, I was in law enforcement and a Professional fire fighter, and have seen this lifestyle firsthand. But my husband and I are hooked, I tell everyone I know what a great "twisted" show this is!
IDEA:how about a nosey PTA Mom that has a history of helping those in deep trouble, counseling and can shoot a gun too? I would love to be in a future episode and will keep you and this pilot in my prayers for great success. Blessings 2U,Christina Koerber 505-220-6001

Vince,
I think it's amazing the way you write and I've noticed how you are blending local culture into your plot.

I was born and raised in Albuquerque's South Valley so I can't help but wonder why Albuquerque was chosen as the location for filming Breaking Bad? In every episode I find myself saying, I know where that place is and that one and this one, hahaha! It just ads to the excitement of seeing every new episode.

Also, do you prefer red or green? LOL, if you don't know what that means give me a call, perhaps you can write it into one of your episodes. Talk about culture!

One last short question, where can I see Breaking Bad without censorship. I think it would become even more "real" as a viewer.

O.K., I'll go away now. Keep up the great work!

Awesome!
Great connections in the storyline.

Can you explain the fulminated mercury explosion?
How it blew the room up and only stunned the people.

Thanks

Mr. Gilligan, one of the main/many reasons I'm drawn to 'Breaking Bad' is that it really does have a tone unlike anything else I've ever seen on television. That being said, I was just curious if any specific shows (or even films or literature) informed or influenced 'BB''s black 'n' blue streak. ---Kyle

I am limiting myself to just a few questions, but I could ask many more.

Walt's behavior seems at times to be childish and impulsive and at other times to be composed of deliberate thought. Which is his more dominant trait?

I really liked meeting Elliott and Gretchen. Walt seemed especially angry throughout this entire episode. Is it mere jealousy we see?

Thank you for this show! I love it!

Everything about Breaking Bad is positively brilliant. If there's ever been anything better produced for TV, I'd like to see it. The best thing about it? Except for no one getting injured or killed in the explosion at Tuco's, no suspension-of-disbelief is required. (Someone else did make a good point about his teacher insurance not covering, or helping to cover his ailment, but I can live with that.) The sequence of events is quite realistic and believable. It's like being a fly on the wall while the story unfolds. It's truly uncanny, how well it's done. Bravo!

Vince, absolutely love Breaking Bad. When is it returning? Everything about the show is fascinating. The casting is so good. Can't believe it ends March 9. Way too soon. When can we expect new episodes? Soon I hope. Please hurry!

I love this show and hope it keeps going for awhile. I'm wondering if it will ever be shown unedited or is that just AMCs policy and no getting around it. I think shows are better and more authentic when they aren't edited for language but if that's the way it has to be I'll certainly continue to watch. Keep up the good work!

Vince - great show. Very well done! You know from the very first I feel for the guy. (BTW, I remember that episode of the X-files with Bryan - a classic!) I work for a community college in the chemistry department, and the organic professor and I are loyal fans of the show, especially the authentic content. We only wish we could see more Walt chem. and less Cap'n Cook chem. Anyway, my question. It seems as though you must have some kind of chemistry knowledge. Do you have a chemistry background yourself? Thanks!

Hi Vince! Had a blast filming as an extra! I'm the tallest extra there in episode 5 all 6'7" of me. In the drug selling scene at The Dog House, I appear after the line up of guys buying. I am in a zoom in on just my face and a fade out of me while looking to my right.
Just want to say that this show has some very talented writers, has a way of keeping you on the edge of your seat. Also, you actually care about the characters in this series. Not the usual polished unreal Hollywood types that do not exit in real life. Where do you get your ideas! WOW!
Very believeable story line. Thanks for a wonderful few weeks and keep up the great work. Your are very talented!

Hi Vince once again. Just curious. When will the second season appear? Also, will you be filming in New Mexico again for any future projects. Keep me in mind. Thank you again.
Sincerely,

Vince,

Kudos on a fantastic concept expertly executed. I was wondering, as a Canadian I see this first season as a commentary on the US health care system; was that the kernel of the concept? Or was it just "let's do a show about a meth cooking chemistry teacher"? With that in mind, is it feasible that the second season may focus on the actual drug trade proper? A la The Wire's moving lens on the ills of Baltimore?

Truly a wonderful piece of work. Your mother would be proud. But then, you're probably the type of guy who would take the spliff fall for his little brother, so it's not surprising.

It's great to see a show about chemistry although the average person isn't going to appreciate it (but we in chemistry world do-very much!). A few tech notes-1st episode-Walt when cooking in the rv throws phosphorus in a pan of water and later says it was phosgene that killed the assailant-no phosphorus in phosgene! It is COCl2. Also, a student laboratory would NEVER have hydrofluoric acid.

hello Vince,
first off let me be one of the many to thank you for a truely compeling and wonderful show!! The actors really are their characters! Poor Walt, I hope the series continues, but with his poor health I dont see how,,,,hmmm, love the fact that he shaved his head! Also love the fact that the son has a disability, my neice sufferes from CP (cerebral palsy) and wanted to thank you for shedding some light on this. I won a coin in the contest, and LOVE it! have shown it too all my friends and turned them on to Breaking Bad, now we all gather and discuss on Mondays! Keep up the great work.
sincerely , Julie Hansen

first of all, I've been praising this show relentlessly on my squee blog at njudah.vox.com.

second of all, DAMN! This has been an amazing series to watch. I figured I'd watch an ep or 2 and see what happens but now I'm hooked. Walt's evolution from belittled high school chem teacher (love how we got the info that his former partner in school screwed him over) and car wash dude, to Bad Ass MF has been awesome.

When I saw Episode 6 and that flash of him, shaved head and stuff blowing up I KNEW that something was going down. But I couldn't predict!

More to the point, I admire your storytelling style, the kind of style that drops hints at the front end, and then kicks butt at the end in a way no one can predict, and yet makes sense.

So my questions now are as such, and bear with me, please because you rock like no other:

1. How did you get the idea for such a concept in the first place

2. How do you see this series continuing past an abbreviated Season 1, if at all?

3. What is the message you'd want us, as the viewers to take home first from this series?

Lighter lit because you rock. This is an amazing piece of work.

Excuse me, but don't you all know Meth is one of
the worst drugs, ever conceived, in the world? Hitler
was supposed to be the 1st one to have it made,&
I don't know how true that is, but I live in Missouri,
& know its ALL over my neighborhood. When you get worried, not knowing who is, or isn't ,"cooking"
the "SH", yea, you worry, & wonder.'Is it safe to go out of your own home"? How do I know? Because my "Man", is a "Meth-Head",& has been for at least
9 years!! Which, does make me a hypocryte, if I
spelled that right.Because I do still love him,& "put"
up with the "SH".I'll be honest, I haven't watched
your show, because it hits too close to home, & I
know my boyfriend would probably be "jonesing". So, I love AMC, but won't watch this one.Lynda

Umm..... what?

Al Qaeda created "The Wiggles". Take that, American suburbanite pig-dog infidels!!

Hey,
Love the show. I count down every week until sunday night. Great plot. I love everyone of the characters! My question would be, will there be a second season???

Breaking Bad is smart, funny, crazy, shocking and out right entertaining! The best dam show on TV! Thanks AMC for taking risks and bringing us a series that plays like a movie! The cast is the best I have ever seen, from the small roles all the way up to the Great Bryan Cranston! The only thing this show glorifies is great writing! Give us more!

So.... Who came first? Jimmy from "South Park" or Walt Jr.? They both are handicapped, have the same voice, have the crutches that go up their arms and even look the same. Watch one episode of South Park with Jimmy in it and you will instantly realize it's a cartoon version of Walt Jr. Where did that come from? Homage to friends or what?

default userpic

Let me say that Breaking Bad is a ground-breaking innovative series that one has rarely seen on television in a long while. The acting is first-rate. Because of this, it certainly deserves a lot of kudos! However, that being said, I see two flaws with the show. The first is a problem that drug dealers always face. Money laundering. Walt gets paid large quantities of cash by Tuco. How exactly does he deposit all this cash into either his bank account or use it as payment for his cancer therapy? After all, a high school chemistry teacher doesn’t nonchalantly make a deposit of, say, $50,000 cash into his bank account without stirring up a lot of suspicions, especially since the chemistry department of his high school had had equipment stolen. The second problem deals more with ethics and perception. Doesn’t the show suggest that Walt, once he turns his chemical expertise to making illegal drugs and thus generating a lot of money, becomes empowered and in an economic sense, free. Is this really the message that should be sent to viewers? I mean, why don’t we all take a turn at making big money illegally, that is, as long we have the know-how and can get away with it?

Hey how do you become a writer for the show

default userpic

Vince;
Thanks for creating such well rounded and indepth characters that are not only believable and easy to get lost in, but to accept into our hearts, love or hate each week as though we know them. Your writing is superb, your comic timing a delight and I thouroughly enjoy Breaking Bad each and every week. I find myself sad that the season has come to an end. I would ask a couple of questions however they have already been asked so I will ask this instead. What inspired you to become a writer? Thanks again for the best show on television today!
