Win a Breaking Bad Challenge Coin

Now that you've seen Episode 2 (a.k.a., "The Cat's in the Bag..."), it's time to tell us how you think the cat's going to get OUT of the bag: Who do you think will be the first to discover Walt's secret life? After you've taken the poll, tell us why in the comment section and you'll automatically be entered in a random drawing to win a Breaking Bad commemorative challenge coin designed by none other than the show's creator, Vince Gilligan.

Because it would create the most drama and the other options are just too obvious and done before. Imagine what he would have to explain to his son, it would make great tv.
I think it would make for great drama if Betsy discovers first. Think about it: she's a gossiper, so she'll have to tell some one. Her choices will be either her husband, who will have to arrest her brother-in-law, or her sister and effectively end her marriage.
Keeping the secret locked in will also make for great drama during her scenes with Skyler when they're always gossiping....
Betsy is a busybody.
I think it would be great if Hank is the one who "lets the cat out of the bag", but then wants in on the haul and blackmails Walt to get it!
I'm going with his son. Walt Sr. will get caught sneaking something somewhere in the house and have to explain why.
i dont think his wife will find out because she already had her run-in with pinkman; i dont think his son will find out because even if he did find out i dont think thatd develop the story too much, same with the sister. but i think if hank finds out then he'll be conflicted on whether to act on his duty to enfore the law as a dea agent, or whether he can try to help his brother-in-law on trying to make the right decisions before its too late
Hank, because "BrBa" constantly defies expectations of what could or should happen in a given situation.
I don't think it'll be Skyler. As mention already, she already confronted Jesse with an ultimatum. If Walt continues to be sketchy, she'll send her brother Jesse's way. It won't be Skyler to make another move.
It won't be Walt Jr. Walt won't let any of the meth stuff near his house and Walt Jr. isn't the most sneaky cat on the block.
The only way I could see it being Betsy is if she sees how upset Skyler is, and takes it upon herself to snoop into Walt's business. But even so, I think she would just as soon send her husband to investigate.
So, there's two people that can point Hank in the direction of Walt and Jesse's dilemma. Add to the fact that Emilio posted bail and now has gone missing. That's not going to sit well with the authorities. Their car was left out in the desert along with that gas mask. I think Hank will find Walt first one way or another.
the son is gonna be smoking their meth.
There was mention of a snitch, so it could be Hank who finds out first, - or Hank is dirty and want in.
Yeah, Junior is gonna get ahold of some of that pure gack, do too much, stay up for a week, and go all schizo and have a nervous breakdown. Then chef Boyardee(Walt senior) is gonna feel all bad for doing the burn. Man, I wish I could score some shards like those!!!
Although it would make for less drama ( maybe), if they want to reflect real life, the wife will be first. I knw this because I have been marred for 33 years and have been through much the same thing.
I particularly liked the RV. I could relate to it exactly.
I just think it will be Walt Jr. because he is a very smart kid. He will have more opportunity than the others to observe his father's changing behavior. I don't think it will be his wife because she thinks she already knows the reason for the behavior change.
I think Walt jr. will due to his age.He would probably be somewhere that Walts partner might be running off at the mouth about their secret; McDonalds, arcade, school hangouts.
In addition, the video camera he used to record his final words, will aid in revealling his secret.
Walt Jr. ... maybe he is the snitch. ;-)
Hank is an egocentric loser with a small penis (why else would he want a bigger gun). Somehow Hank is going to discover Walt's meth enterprise and become a part of it in some bizarre twist of fate.
Walt Jr., "like father like son". At some point Jr. will discover his father's secret indirectly.
Interesting and exciting. I think it may be Hank. Because he is so concieted and full of himself, he'll want part of the action. Hank is the perfect person to help keep the business secret because he knows exactly how to. In fact, I think it will be Hank to get rid of Crazy 8 because he got the guts to do such a thing. Walt and Pinkman don't.
I think it will be Walt Jr. He is smarter than everyone thinks. I can't wait to see how Walt will explain his way out of this to his son
Hank, Walt's brother-in-law will discover Walt and Pinkman's meth venture through fingerprint identification on the strewn gas mask found (at the desert lab-site) by the little girl!
I'm thinking that Walt is going to want to confide in someone, and I think that his son will have some serious questions and Walt will wind up telling his son.
In terms of painful awkwardness, nothing beats the kid blundering into the truth of the situation. I think it will be Walt, Jr., who might have more going on than it appears.
The son is a very compelling and interesting but, as of now, an underdeveloped character. I want to know more about him. So, if I've tapped in to the nuances the writers are creating, he's the one to find out the truth.
I think the sister chick is gonna find out. I bet she's a hooker/tweeker and she buys her Crystal from Jesse. Walt probably goes with jesse to slang it to her. and her and Walt see eachother.
Walter’s adventures have taken him to some really interesting places; mostly unexpected by him and the viewer alike. Not only would it seem reasonable, yet enjoyable, in a twisted way, to watch Betsy enter the inner circle of Walters pleasure cruise. Go Betsy!
tink it will b da DEA guy mon, jus because him is trained to be seen da criminals and all mon.
alto, aftas tinkin a bit, i agree da son will be a betta story mon.
I'm going to go with Betsy. She's got her own secret (shoe thief!) and other obvious problems. Even though she seems like a snitch, she has her reasons to keep quiet. I'll bet she finds out in some way that we can't even really imagine right now, too.
I love how there is a connection building between the characters. Like the meth 'ho at the motel who meets Hank and Walt Jr. turns out to be one of Jesse's customers. And did she really say, "I forgot my root beer" at the end of that scene? Incredible!
Where'd you learn english Julie?
It's totally Skyler. She's a huge snoop, using spyderfinder, and actually going to Pinkman's.
She's shoulder deep in Walt's shit 100% of the time. I wonder what she'll say or do when she finds out.
I think Hank's going to find one of Waler's personal effects while investigating Walter's Meth Production and cooking sites.

Walt Jr. is going to catch on to his dad! He probably knows more about meth than his old man.
Man thats a TUFFY to many angles to tell right now. I see the poll has Walt Jr. as discovering Walt Sr. secret. I can't wait to see what happens Sunday OMG!!! the suspense is killing me!!
Skyler has the most insight to her own husband, and is the reason for his being...
(not to mention her snooping!)
DNA is a factor here! Hmmmmmmmmm
I think that the brother-in-law is going to be the first to find out because First he is a DEA agent and could come up with supporting evidence like; why was he so interested in the whole Meth operation to begin with...
All of you make good points. However, the respirator in the desert that was subsequently recovered by the DEA makes me think Hank will find Walt's fingerprints and/or DNA on it.
I think Walter Jr would be the person to find out first, although before this question was posed, I never even considered that someone would be finding out (at least anytime soon). I think Walter Jr is the only person who could find it in his heart to understand and forgive. Everyone else is far too conservative to find out and not immediately put Walter behind bars...unless after revealing the truth about his cancer, his wife suddenly takes a new direction in her attitude. Maybe we don't really know his wife and that she will only reveal the character she'll continue to take on after the dramatic news of her husband's impending death. I would really like a Breaking Bad coin please.
the wife needs an explanation of hoo doo. he is going to have to fess up.
I voted for the kid. He'll see Walt doing something somewhere and although he won't want to, the kid will snoop out the old man like Ironside.
The wife, Walt will have to explain how the mask from the school got out there. It probably has a school inventory mark on it right!
Walt needs a ridiculously incriminating nickname like Captain Cook has, maybe Count Crackula or something.
Skyler, for sure. It would make a great story line if she finds out. Faced with financial trouble she helps the boys with the manufacturing of METH so they can raise money for Walt's medical care. Another twist would be if she got hooked on the junk.
Walt paid for the Cashier's check for the deposit for the Oncologist with the money Crazy8 had at the first cook site. Remember this money was drenched in chemicals. The money hits the Federal Reserve Bank. The serial numbers and/or the distinct chemical smell draws attention to Federal Bankers.
The NM DEA is investigating the Rolling Meth lab, the breathing mask with meth residue, and the money which they gave the Native American Indian to pull them out of the ditch in the desert. Hank talks about this business at gatherings where Jr. takes it all in.
Mean time, Walter Jr. gets an after school job at the Bank. When the Feds come to the bank to investigate the currency transaction, Jr. assists the bank manager in finding the copies of the Cashier's Check. Jr. recognizes the name in the Pay to the Order of "Oncology Assoc of America" and hides the copy in his shirt pocket only to confront his father at home in private.
Then on a school trip to Roswell, Jr. sees the Rolling Meth Lab RV parked in the desert and remembers his uncle Hank talking about this at a gathering. He remembers Hank saying they had found a pair of pants at the cook site of the Rolling Lab.
(Remember the afternoon that Walter and Jesse had the altercation with Emeleo and Crazy8 and Walter lost his pants in the confusion? Well, I think Jr. caught Walter coming into the house wearing what were obviously not Walter's pants.)
Anyhow, Jr. sees the clothes hanging from the camper mirror, and he remembers all of these indicators and he knows.
I hope many many episodes, even seasons, will precede the discovery of Walter's secret.
My vote is for Walter Jr.
PS...did anyone catch the Tampino Tag on the Baby's crib in the nursery...that gave me chills.
having the son find out would be great drama as well as bringing the son's character to a greater importance
obviously his son and him have had some experieces in the past so i think he'll find out first. there also has been lots of foreshadowing so i think his son will find him first.
I think his son is going to find out first.
He thought it was so cool that night with Hank. I think curiosity will get the best of him. But if I'm wrong, my second guess would be his wife.
my opinion is for walt jr. to find out first. Only bacause hank has seemed to be taking jr. under his DEA wing and showing him the ups and downs of the drug underworld and telling him how it is. with the current events of jr's lil run in with the law tryin to get an undercover cop to buy him alcohol, the first person he calls is Hank! so i think hank will further try to educate him about the dangers of drugs and alcohol, while he is working on "walts case" in which in turn might tell Jr. something about the case that only jr. could peace together the information, clues and his fathers eccentric behavior to uncover his secret
I think Hank will come across it first. First of he finds drugs dealers/users for a living. Secondly he seems to be the most understanding. Maybe Walt Sr. will get into a bind and go to Hank for help or advice.
I think Walt Jr is going to see or hear things in future episodes and gradually discover most of the secret on his own before Sr. comes clean and explains why.
After seeing this Sunday's episode...I'm leaning towards Hank. If he doesn't start seeing the connection (with Walter always being somehow related), then he might be blind. Also, the conversation between Hank & Walter about the Cuban cigars (I believe that was in the Season Finale) looked to be hinting that way.
I think Walter Jr. will find out first since he saw Walt "checking for mice" in the vent. If he catches his dad there too many times, he'll take a look himself and find the loot. Then Jr. would confront his dad about it and Walt would be forced to tell him.
I'd have to say Skylar. Walt and Skylar are so close and I think that Skylar's character has much more to reveal. Plus she is so nosy.
Skylar would go completely insane, and Marie would tell Hank, and Hank, though sympathetic to Walt's situation, sees the other end of the meth world, and he wouldn't let him get away - unless he stops cooking, and that would end the series. Walt Jr. is the only one who could figure out and continue the series' format.
However, I, like many others, thought Walt would merely remain anonymous. I think his street name should be "Mercury".
Betting on Walt Jr., based on the friends he's hangs out with.
I have to agree, Betsy seems the most likely. We saw her shoplift the shoes, so we know she sees herself as above all the petty dealings Hank is involved in. Does she do meth? Or take a toke once in awhile? Use her medical connections to get her own drugs? Or perhaps she has the best connection to get the ingredients for meth .....
I have to say walt jr, because i think together they'll keep the action alive and the cat 'in the bag.' Any other characters I'd see spoiling his operation. And betsy's stealing a pair of shoes doesn't constitute being up for blackmailing a pair of meth producers. So in terms of keeping the story alive, walt jr. will know first.
i actually had just suggested for season 2 Skyler find out because although it would be obious it would be the most dramatic but Hank finding out would change the plot the most and change his ideas about Walt drastically but i feel he will continue to suspect other people till the end he will refuse evidence that Walt cooks meth violently because of his image of Walt and he doesn't seem like a tangible character he is contrast to the other characters who are deeply subject to change and character development
I think it will be Hank because of the multiple close calls they have had. It would also cause some struggle for Hank about how to handle this news. Since Hank is a DEA agent and enforces drug laws for a living, I believe he is most likely to stumble upon some evidence pointing towards Walt.
Now that ive seen the season finale, i think that hank may discover it first.
I think that Walt will somehow use hank's wife's shoplifting as blackmail to keep him quiet.
Walt too nice to blackmail? Not anymore, that crazy sucker BROKE BADDDD!
Bravo for a GREAT intense show we can look forward to watching every Sunday!!!! I dont watch alot of tv, but there are a few select shows I'll tune into, and this show definitely ROCKS!!!! Great characters great story, AND we all get to learn science all over again. :)
( I think his wife will find out first.) She likes to really get on top of things and do the investigative work in order to FIX things. And she does'nt really let up when shes serious.
Ohh hank will find out first.. probably be some sort of cover up, if Hank has any compassion. Maybe hank will look the other way in trade for some personnel favor?
Walt Jr. because he sees life very clearly and accepts what he sees.
I believe Skylar will find out. I was going to say that maybe Walt would end up telling Skylar, but the question is "who will find out?" So my thoughts are that Skylar will smell the chemicals again and call him on it.
walt jr. seems like the only person who might not either a. rat him out, or b. hate him. he did judge him to be a pussy when it came to treatment. selling meth is ballsy for walt.
I think it would have to be Walt Jr. He's really the only one other than Walt Sr. whose actions aren't governed by a negative need for approval, so morally he would be the most interesting choice. Plus, it would make for some very interesting scenes and development of his character.
I think that Walters son would be the person to find out his dirty secret first. If I recall correctly, he teaches at the same school that his son attends which means that his son would notice his absence long before anyone else would. Plus it would be interesting to see Walt and Jr. trying to hide the secret from everyone else. I can see that Jr. loves his family but is frustrated by how they act towards him just because of his disability. I see him reacting differently then any of the other characters because he's the only one thats been through similar hard ships (Cerebral Palsy) and I see him keeping his father in check and motivated. Hes a very dynamic character to quote episode 4 "you're a pussy! after everything I went through! You're scared of a little kemo." I thought that was brilliant! He's not afraid to tell his dad how it is. It would be interesting to see his son express his opinion on the drug game, and the chemistry. I also think that having his son discover it first would cause Jr. to see his dad in a totally different light. He thinks his Dad is a pussy and for him to find out that he's the ultimate Meth Chemist would blow his mind. He might actually respect his Dad as a man, and not just as a father/teacher. Walt's wife is a little naive, and totally controlling. For her to find out would mean the end of everything and a laundry list of nagging. His sister in-law Marie would use the information to her advantage to either get the upper hand on her sister in-law (after we discover her baby shower present was stolen) or to get her husband inside information. The worst person to find out would be her, even though her husband is a DEA agent, she seems like the person who would hurt others for her own gain. Her husband Hank might not be the worst to find out. There could be a great twist if Hank turned out to be a crooked cop and winds up helping Walt because he knows what hes going through and where he's coming from. Plus Hank loves nice things, like Hennessey and Cuban Cigars. He seems like a typical cop though, sarcastic, cocky, and power hungry. The scene where everyone is watching Hank's drug bust on TV just sums it all up. So in my opinion Walt Jr. would be the one to catch on first because he pays close attention to what the adults are doing, whereas the adults are all lost in their own world. Skyler is caught up in the pregnancy and the kemo, Marie is lost in a material world, stealing and shoplifting. Hank is wrapped up in his job.
I think it's going to be Hank, and Walt is going to force Hank into helping him out somehow. I thought, initially, it would be through blackmailing him over Betsy's shoplifting... but that's a sketchy charge at best, and nowhere near bad enough for purposes of blackmail. Besides... it would be immensely satisfying for Walt to have one over on Hank.
just want to add that while they are watching TV during Walts 50th birthday party, Walt asks Hank "how much money is that" and his reply is "700,000... pretty decent haul".. hank: thats unusual? that kind of cash? Hank: its not the most we ever took. Its easy money... till we catch you. So I feel that Hank if he finds out first just might take sides with Hank to get in on the cash. It might help to have a DEA agent on your side. He could close down any competition Walt might get.
*take sides with Walt *
I bet Marie is going to travel farther on the thrill seeking path and escalate her shoplifting to other activities. I think she will encounter Walt somehow, they will come face to face while both doing something illegal and then it will become their secret from the rest of the family. They will each know something about the other.
Marie, just because I could see her blackmailing him to get herself some of the finer things. Fine things that don't fit in her pocket.
Marie because I think she is really good looking Ha!
I'd like to see it be Walt Jr. It brings up all the father and son stuff that has been lacking to this point and I think Walt Jr's outlook because of his youth and own medical troubles gives him a unique unexpected eye with which to see his father in this situation.
Walt, the Jr. variety.
I would like to see Hank discover it first. He would be able to keep it under wraps for a piece of the pie. But the real reason I'm hoping for Hank is because of his domineering personality. I want to see Walt turn things around on him as he changes from the quiet submissive Walt into the "nothing to lose" Walt.
his son should find out first! the son would keep the secret because he wants his dad to be adventurous and happy. but what really needs to happen is to bring back the janitor as walts body guard !
I really think it's going to be Marie. It just feels right. So far she's had a plot arc of becoming a kleptomaniac. While this landed Skyler in a tough situation over the tiara, I don't think that it's run its full course. I can't guess how they'll end up in a situation where Walt's secret gets exposed. Marie is the character farthest removed from Walt, and I think that her finding out can cause a lot more tension by potentially spilling the secret to her DEA husband Hank or Skyler.
Hank is the most obvious person to find out first, espeically with the rumor of a snitch. On the other hand I would really like for Walt Jr. to find out first.
I think Walt Jr. would be the first person to find out his father's secret because he is the only one of them that's able to keep a secret (and be discreet about it) for any length of time. Skylar has already displayed her desire to confront her sister on an illegal act - shoplifting - and then tells her husband, so with her it would definitely get around quickly. Marie seems to be into herself but is also a talker like when she tells her husband of suspected marijuana use. Even thou she is wrong about it, she'll likely have a bigger mouth if she is right. Although, she'd see how she could use it to her advantage, she'd probably screw it up just like the shoplifting. Hank likes to be the big shot by giving speeches about drugs and outdoing his partner but does seem to have a special relationship with Walt Sr. Nevertheless, his wife has him wrapped around her finger. She demonstrates this by getting him to talk to Walt Jr. about marijuana. I think it would be great to show off Walt Jr.'s inner intelligence while protecting his father. He definately couldn't rat him out.
It makes sense that his wife would find out, because he is closet to her.
I think it will be Hank to find out first and will help cover it up to protect the family. Hank seems to play fast and loose, which reminds me of the character "Vic Mackey" in "The Shield".
Obviously it will be his son. He isn't qas dumb as he appears. His wife is clueless, as well as the cop friend.
Walt Jr. is quite savvy, if you haven't noticed already.
I think Hank will figure it out first, but only after some misunderstandings and misdirections and suspicions of the rest of the family.
Walt Jr. will find out b/c he goes to the same school Jesse used to go to (and Walt Sr. teaches at), and he knows some of the kids who are trying to score meth. It's just a matter of time before he finds out about Jesse's relationship with his dad.
