So, is this an attempt to awaken America to the insane reality that meth addicts live in ...or is this an attempt to desensitize America through hollywood glamorization of the issue?

default userpic

I am shocked that AMC would air a show that glorifies the manufacture of methamphetamine and it's use. Mid life crisis....whatever. There is nothing glorious or funny or even satisfying about meth use. It destroys people and any money you do make.....you dont get to keep in the end.

default userpic

Okay, so I totally get it; the writer's strike has made AMC scrape the bottom of the barrel for a TV series... This is total capitalization of the most destructive of diseases and lifestyles--addiction. Sure, sure I haven't seen it yet, don't judge... However, I lived the life; I am 5 years in recovery and I don't need any reminders of the devastation methamphetimine left in my life, health, spirituality, family, freedom, pride... how sad to use other's pain and call it entertainment

The media should have the best interests of its viewers in mind, but by writing, scripting and acting out a story of a meth maker it seems to me that this could be harmful to viewers. There really must be a lack of jobs in Hollywood for you, the media, to stoop so low as to make and produce a story like for publication. You should all be ashamed of this work!

default userpic

I cannot believe that AMC would make a show like "Breaking Bad." This is one of America's worst addictions, everyone is trying to help people get off meth and here you stoop so low as to glorify the making of meth as a show. You are making the name of teachers bad while you are at it. You should be ashamed of yourself and I hope this show gets canceled asap. AMC--I will not be watching your network!

I have only one thing to say about a program that induces the only path to financial security, is to not only break the law, but to put others at risk. We who are college graduates, who work with people in addiction, are former addicts ourselves, and have the experiences of an addiction like Meth, can only see this program as a lead to break the law and say, I am dieing, so therefore FORGET THE WORLD. If all people have that attitude then we will not survive as a people.

If I could, I would show you the broken spirits of the children and of their parents who have experienced this all consuming drug. I will quote just one person, "It's rare that you run into someone who isn't affected directly or indirectly by it," said Gary Kendell, director of the Iowa governor's drug control office. This one quote says it all. I ask you please to take this program, in its future episodes, to where Meth really takes the individual.

Ron Noblett former addict and now drug counselor to those with a disease stronger than men and stronger than women, but not stronger than Yaweh or Yeshua.

Localized clandestine manufacture of methamphetamine, which was increasing in Virginia, has decreased, due to the passage of state and Federal laws regulating precursors. Most lab activity is still centered on the far southwestern corner of the state bordering West Virginia, North Carolina, and Kentucky. The Shenandoah Valley region contains the highest percentage of methamphetamine abusers in the state, and was the first area of the state to receive a huge influx of Mexican immigrants, whose presence encouraged an expansion of existing Mexican drug-trafficking networks. In rave and nightclub venues, both "ice" and methamphetamine have become drugs of choice.

This is from the home state of the creator of BreakingBad. Lawlessness is not the answer to anyones dreams, especially those who are terminally ill. To die with one's wholeness is what we try to do in Oregon, the only state with a terminally ill statute.

default userpic

I cannot believe what I saw this morning! A commercial advertising this pathetic new TV show. It's sad to think that you (AMC) would think that this would be acceptable to put on the air? I was a regular viewer of your station, but if this what you call a "classic". I'll have to change movie favorites. Ms. Perry has put it the best way anyone could. Any addict (recovering or not) can tell you that it's a show that can set someone into a relapse. I hope that you take her advice and take it where it truly goes.

default userpic

Dear Amc:

Please dont put any more junk on TV. We as parents have enough to fight without it in our homes. You are making light of a very serious problem in our country. Please take the higher road and find something else for us to watch.

A Parent.

This is horrible. Disgusting. I've checked AParent, Chris T, Dawn D and all of the other posters and I haven't seen one, not one, comment abou the senseless serial killing of mafia gangs. Not one has commented about the pain serial killers cause to families. They berate AMC about a show that deals with meth, but not a one comments to HBO about the Sopranos. Not one to Showtime about Dexter. Not one on the various blogs devoted to The Godfather. What, you all condone serial killing and mafia hitmen? How dare you belittle the families of those killed by serial killers. Are you so obsessed with your own addictions that you can't feel for those who have been murdered??? NO, give me a show about a meth dealer rather than killers and rapists anyday.

default userpic

After having worked on the set of "Breaking Bad" as well as reading a few scripts for the series I have to say that this show is intelligent, dark, funny, and of an extremely high quality. The intent of the show is not to glamorize drugs in any way, but rather to show the consequences of a man who has chosen this path.

For all the previous posters who have judged the show without even watching it all I can say is that this show is probably not for you in the first place. However, for those who like a complex adult drama and enjoy a TV show that works on multiple layers then at least give "Breaking Bad" a chance before decrying it because it deals with negative aspects of our society.

Cheers to AMC for "Mad Men" and now "Breaking Bad", proving that quality still exists in some corners of our TV sets.

default userpic

What are you people thinking?? There's enough trash on TV without this... As has been said already, Meth Destroys lives, families, communities, and the environment. Yet here is a show glorifying it, No I don't need to see it, no matter how dark, funny, or intelligent the people who produced it think it is. Maybe if any of you had actually been addicted to Meth you would know this. (I doubt you'd be in the industry you currently are if you had.) I would hope a terminally ill person would set a better example for his children and family, regardless of financial consequences.

default userpic

Unbelievable! Do the producers of this show even know how irresponsible this is? Having spent 3 months in an apartment last summer while waiting for closing on our house...my family and I were repeated exposed to harmful chemicals from the apartment next door where evil, ignorant fools were "cooking" meth. We did not even know what that wretched smell was until after we moved, (we heard on the news of a meth bust in that apt. building). The medical costs in trying to decontaminate my family is astronomical...not to mention that EVERYTHING we owned had to be discarded and destroyed. We have been living in a nightmare...one not of our own making!! The fact that Hollywood could be so callous and greedy as to glorify the making of meth for their own profit sickens me almost as much as those poisonous vapors. Perhaps I should send the producers, writers and actors of "Breaking Bad" a photo of my daughter on a respirator. Maybe they could write a plot for a show that could help reimburse my family for our loss!! This is truly sickening and makes me want to denounce my American citizenship!

default userpic

Please, if you choose not to watch the show, fine, but do not judge the show when you do not even have a clue how it is presenting meth...I am sure that you have watched many shows that deal with much darker content, rape, murder, child pornography, just to mention a few. Meth is real and it is a subject that should be discussed at great length in the home, just maybe this show will give you an opportunity to talk with your loved ones. At least give it a chance before judging the content.

default userpic

Shame on you AMC. Meth is not funny!! I'm calling my cable company and promptly having you removed!!!

default userpic

I think that AMC is taking a huge step. I believe this will work. I, for one, will definitely watch this series. I agree with anne sorenson. I am so waiting to watch this show. Every one else needs to get over it. Thanks AMC for something worth watching.

default userpic

Are you people kidding? Everyone at work is dying to see this (not just the chem lab but the whole factory)! I'm going to buy a VCR just to record every episode! This show combines reality, comedy, and hardcore drama all in one. This writer is amazing we've all seen the previews and can't wait! Everyone in the frat is going to call off work just to see the show on its big day. We don't even do this for poker night or keggers. Even my professor and I were talking about this since we saw the first commercial; yes it was a psychology professor but hey, it's an authority none the less. SO MANY people are looking forward to this you have no idea.

default userpic

I know when I was sitting in my bathtub with 5 inches of a butchers knife slammed into my stomach for the second time, afraid demons were going to drag me to hell, I thought to myself "Wow.. this whole meth experience would really make a wicked series for television". Really. That's what I was thinking.

default userpic

Edgy and well shot comedy and the only T&A appears to be Bryan...lol Comedy with a capital C should be not only funny but a pleasure to watch with strong production values. AMC might be on to groundbreaking theory here. Bryan has come a long way since his "Mars and Looney" student film...gl

default userpic

I saw the first episode (thanks to a friend) and I thought it was fantastic. If anyone thinks this will glorify meth or addiction, they're very wrong. It will do the opposite. It doesn't make fun of addiction either. It looks like it'll be a very interesting look at a main character who is having some serious issues in his life. It's pretty wacky, but in a roller coaster sort of way that's fun, but not for kids. Hmm, maybe kids should watch this, it'll show that drugs are anything but glamorous.

default userpic

I think it looks like a great series. It raises questions about society and who we are. Do you realize how much the war on drugs feeds into the North American economy through laundering. If that would all stop tomorrow, the drug money, police, prisons... there would be an economic disaster. Wake up! I'm not promoting drug use but there's more to these issues than meets the eye.

default userpic

AMC is pushing the envelope too far. I am not impressed and do not need to see the show. I have already read enough on the web site to be turned off to the entire series and disappointed in AMC.

default userpic

How can you all judge what you haven't seen?

I'm curious and I'm gonna to watch it right after I watch WEEDS on Showtime!

Weeds is a good show - it does not glorify pot, yeah the woman make a lot of money - but what goes up must come down!

Good for AMC! Finally gettin with the times and not only known for movies made in black and white.

default userpic

Come on people!!! I've had the opportunity to see the pilot. It is intellegent, masterfully put together, and in no way does it glorify meth. It helps you see how dangerous this drug truly is in our society. We seem to have no trouble watching shows who's central theme is murder, revenge, or sexual perversion. Maybe this show will help open some doors of communication with those who need guidance the most. If you don't like the show, don't watch, but at least give it a chance. Who know's you might really be pleasantly surprised at how well the show is put together, and with how the writers, actors, and directors painstakenly try to paint an authentic picture at how awful meth really is. Way to go AMC. A homerun.

default userpic

I've seen clips from the show and think it looks smart, witty, and well produced. Don't knock it until you've seen it! And thank goodness for Bryan Cranston's return to television. I hope this show is a success for him!! For those of you on facebook or thinking about joining... here's a cool Breaking Bad challenge application I found. It's pretty neat!

http://apps.facebook.com/breakingbad/games

default userpic

Why don't people wait to see the program b4 judging it. Clips taken out of context are not enough to judge a program.

Some of the greatest movies ever, deal with illegal and immoral acts.

I will watch and judges after I have seen a few episodes.

default userpic

As I wouldn't judge all the people who are ex-addicts that left disgusted comments and who are fighting there own demons, I want to remind people that murder and rape have taken over the three big networks and many of the other cable channels also! We must face what will destroy us and not pretend that it does not exist because the Devil is stronger if you don't see him comming! We all can agree that meth is bad just as MANY things are but education and awareness is the key not denial!! Sounds like some of you should have been scared of this before and maybe, just maybe it would have stoped you from taking that first hit! PLEASE Talk about this with your children and let them know that it's out there waiting for them and that it takes just one hit, one bad decision to ruin their lives! This STUFF is everywhere and I mean EVERYWHERE!!! I will watch this show and learn how this crazy stuff is destroying our people and there is a price to pay, We must shout it out and warn everone about the ultimate price in Breaking Bad. And if you don't have it in you to learn there's always the remote. Stay Strong and stay aware for all our sakes! KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!!!

The first review is in, from Multichannel News critic, Mary McNamara. She praises Breaking Bad - calls it "daring...refreshing, gutsy."

don't pre-judge it, people. It sounds really good.

Making A Meth

AMC's New Series Is Bad — And It's Brilliant.

By Lori Acken

I'm sitting on a low brick wall in the backyard of a cozy ranch home on the outskirts of Albuquerque, fragrant sage and rosemary bushes scratching at my back as a dozen men and women dressed for outdoor comfort alternately run over and step on my toes. And I couldn't be happier.

That is, until I realize that the equally tickled guy beside me, snapping photo after photo of the action, is none other than Vince Gilligan, creative mastermind behind The X Files — and the exquisitely original dramedy being filmed before our eyes.

Seated at a patio table a few feet away are series' stars, Bryan Cranston — handsome in a subdued way that renders him barely recognizable from his days as slacker dad Hal on Malcolm In The Middle — and Dean Norris, a sturdy, genial charmer who quips that he's crafted his career playing "ABC guys" ("You know ... FBI, CIA, DEA") and relishes directing his costars in quirky "behind the scenes" shorts he'll post on YouTube once the series debuts. Take after take, the two toss back glasses of scotch (fake), puff on Cuban cigars (real) and engage in the sort of thrust-and-parry banter one might expect between a suburban academic and his macho-cop in-law ... but with a deliciously dark twist, which we'll get to later.

Suddenly, from a few yards down, a gaggle of children begin to shriek, bringing production to a resounding halt. Resigned chuckles turn to belly laughs as Cranston regards his half-smoked Havana, then serenely asks a production assistant to deliver it to the unwitting young interlopers. "They can't scream if they're throwing up," he deadpans.

Welcome to my day on the set of Gilligan's instantly addictive new series, Breaking Bad, debuting January 20 on AMC, the network that first took a chance on the darkly comic critical darling, Mad Men and then gave Breaking Bad its badly-needed break after the premium nets shied away.

Curious? You should be.

Still, to give away much more than a hint of its storyline is to steal the engrossing pleasure of watching it unfold, augmented by the nervy cinematography of movie vet John Toll (Braveheart, Gone Baby Gone).

From the pilot's opening shot of Cranston in undies and a gas mask, frantically steering a trashed RV, to the closing shot of Cranston in his undies roadside with the now-crashed RV, Gilligan's tale of an introverted husband's last-stand plan to spare his pregnant wife and physically-challenged teenage son the fallout of a lifetime spent on autopilot is an incisively witty, thought-provoking gem.

"I was talking to an old college friend of mine who was later on a writer with me on The X Files," explains Gilligan of Bad's inception, "and we were joking about how we should just give up writing and make meth. Maybe in a mobile meth lab ... a Winnebago ... just drive around the country in a Winnebago cooking meth. We were obviously joking, but suddenly this character sprung into my head, and once it did, I couldn't get [him] out of my brain.

"I remember thinking, 'Why would a guy find himself cooking meth in an RV. Why would this straight character I had in my brain — Walter White, even his name is vanilla — a guy who's never bent the law in his life, who's followed the rules his whole lifetime, who's never so much as gotten a ticket for speeding — what possess a guy like that to decide to cook crystal meth? What would be the series of events that would lead up to that decision? That's the central mystery of the show."

A mystery that so intrigued Cranston, he added 20 pounds, an outdated haircut and a cosmetically enhanced pallor to secure the role.

Thus was "born" Walter White, an overeducated, under-accomplished nervous tic of a chemistry teacher who's jolted by the worst kind of bad news — and the unwitting insight of that DEA agent brother-in-law (Norris) — into forming a perversely logical, wildly lucrative business partnership with his drug mule former student.

And while the show is the perfect canvas for Gilligan's complex brand of creativity and Cranston's endless range of expression, it scrupulously avoids making light of its fearless melange of sensitive subject matters, including physical disability and, of course, the country's most devastating drug scourge.

"The thing about our show is that Walt is in no way, shape or form making good choices, nor are we ever lead to think he is." Gilligan stresses. "He is making a series of fundamentally terrible choices ... and he makes that first choice, to cook meth, initially out of a sense of rage."

Gilligan also refused to follow the stereotypical Hollywood path of creating a physically challenged character to serve as a melodramatic — or even worse, comic — prop. Instead, he tapped RJ Mitte, a young actor who lives with cerebral palsy, to play Walter, Jr. and based the very real parent-child interactions on those he observed while visiting another college buddy, Taki.

"The greatest thing about Vince's story sensibility is that he can see darkness and humor at the same time, and switch back and forth on a dime," says Anna Gunn, the former Deadwood actress who celebrated the birth of her second child by climbing back into maternity clothes as Bad's expectant homemaker and aspiring eBay mogul Skyler White. "But it doesn't seem unrealistic. It seems like life."

Even yours, on that one day when life or death or traffic or boredom could lead you to break your own kind of bad.

Well, now I feel kinda guilty after reading these comments, that I am waiting on pins and needles for Jan. 20. I couldn't name even two current primetime shows/sitcoms, haven't watched a series faithfully in 20 years, but I am looking forward to this one. I thought I might like Mad Men but bored the hell out of me; give me a good documentary anyday. I can understand though how watching this show could evoke unhappy flashbacks for former addicts. Best advice is DON'T WATCH THE FRIGGIN SHOW. Now, that didn't take rocket science to figure out did it?

default userpic

I've worked on this show in post-production and have seen everything that has been shot so far. And it is a great show!

Edgy, funny and entertaining. Drug use is *NOT* being glorified here! In fact, you hardly ever see anyone taking any kind of drugs at all, legal or illegal.

So, to all you self righteous people out there who condemned the show before they have even seen it - cool your jets!

default userpic

In resonse to get over it,I hope you get help, only through countless cessions can one beat meth, and I hope you Mary McNamarado, a critic to say anything about meth as gutsy and refreshing is to say lawlessness is gutsy and refreshing. As for any production personel, you have a job. May your job bring you to reality. Hey, that's great.

You may see it as a film, but to other's, who are either in the manufacture of meth or the victims of addiction see it as a trigger to resume their addiction. I would love to here from you at this e-ronnnobby@msn.com I love debate, but I love humanity more. A servant and prophet of Yaweh and Yesua. Signed Ronald Ray Noblett

default userpic

This is what is wrong with America today we have a bunch of whinny babies trying to control everything and not taking responsibility for there own actions. Instead they blame a well written intelligent show like "breaking bad" to make out to be the bad guy. Why not watch it before you judge it needs to be put out their because it is a huge problem in the US and people need to be aware. Just because I see them making it on television doesn't make me want to go out and do it. So sit down and watch the show and you cry babies might learn something.

default userpic

This is one type of humour folks. Deal with it. Yup, it's dark, but anyone that takes this show seriously needs help. They also need to turn their TV off completely for the fear of cartoon dangers, bogus commercial promises, and prime time news stories that are so far off of the truth that they no longer resemble the original story. Do some research- what you see at 6 is not always that which came over the satellite feeds. (Those Hobbits sure looked real, didn't they?)
This is great scripting with believable actors. Thats what makes it fly. Real issues, fictional story to deal with it. Entertainment is a very well used medium, isn't it? Sex in the City- So imoral, or is it funny, or was that entertainment! Could be both if your own screwing around ended up in your own divorce. Oh, beware of murder triggers, obesity triggers and any other excuses for "my" behaviour triggers. YOU made all of your own choices. You still have a choice in all things. So does Walt. Happy to not taste meth, ME.
I'm a fan of Walt in one show!

default userpic

Geez, as usual the vocal dumbasses are all frenzied. I find it ironic that the people who are so "fried" over the fact that this show is aired aren't equally concerned about our current lawmakers and how they are ruining this country. Vote fraud, insane imperialism, NO stable energy policy, unpayable debt, stripping of constitutional safeguards, etc, These folks find it despicable that this fictional show is presented, and yet seem blissfully ignorant all the while their heads are being buried by real life criminal lawmakers. They want fiction drama to resemble non-fiction news--Vapid, vacuous, and devoid of any substance for discussion. This show isn't causing our decline, it's the idiot sheeple who don't want to see that is allowing and facilitating our decline.

default userpic

What a bold and daring show!
Thanks for putting it on and I hope it sticks around awhile.

default userpic

BRILLIANT. I was glued to the first two episodes. The acting is pure perfection. My favorite scene was when Walt stood up for his son in the clothing store. Finally he refuses to let the world walk upon him. He stands up for his family and attempts to provide future financial security. The script writing is genius. It does not glorify crystal meth. IT PROVIDES A WINDOW INTO THE PROBLEMS OF SOCIETY AND REASONS PEOPLE ARE COMPELLED TO ACT UPON CERTAIN PATHS.

I am not a frequent AMC viewer, however shows with depth that present such amazing acting, plots, and drama keep me coming back. I really hope Breaking Bad goes for many seasons and experiences the same popularity as the Sopranos.

For those of you who cannot appreciate perfect acting and deep compelling script writing, simply do not watch the episodes. Keep your kids away from the show and let your parenting skills discourse your kids from any form of drugs. I do not condone drugs in any way, however their effects on society and the world are undeniable and intriguing. It is important to have shows that explore such deep topics that plague the world. Sheltering one from the world will simple leave them ignorant of it's problems. The world's problems must be analyzed and observed so that we can make the world we live in a better place. Do not live in the darkness of the world's problems, watch, observe and learn.

default userpic

For all the people who think this is a "bad" show;
what are you watching? Numerous CSI prgrams,
Bones, or the other 14 million Law and Order programs that show blood, guts, gore, and burnt bodies? BB is well written and the acting is top notch. Shining a light on a problem is a good thing (thanks Martha) and talking about our problems is even better. We cannot solve our prolems by sticking our heads in the sand.
Having an open conversation about it is healthy.
Also, most TV's nowadays have "parental control"
options, so why not use them? I think letting your
kids watch this will go a long way in keeping
them off drugs but you have to be a parent and
have a discussion about it. But that's probably
too hard for you, so you'd rather just b*itch about
it.

default userpic

This program does show a negative lifestyle,
and perhaps poor decisions made by a desperate
individual. If you do not agree with the programming,
change the channel. While I commend those who
have quit their addictions to the drugs displayed, it was intended to be viewed by
a mature audience that hopefully have a grasp on
reality. I watched "The Matrix" the other night, and not once did think I could stop a helicopter with a
piece of rope. There are much more disturbing things on T.V. on the evening news... A 3.1 trillion
dollar budget ( the largest in our nation's history)
with a 200 billion dollar cut in health care. An absurd war without a clear enemy or end in sight,
the list goes on. Part of entertainment is suspending one's belief, knowing that a television
drama is just that, a drama.

user-pic

OH NOES! They're showing horrible consequences to drug related activities! Now my kids are going to do it! This is all your fault for making my children watch this show AMC. How dare you.

Only, I love this show, and I think it is being done very tastefully. People that can't handle it, are free not to watch it.

default userpic

I'm completely smitten by Breaking Bad. I love it. It's pretty realistic, except that Jessie isn't as much of a fiend as I would expect him to be, being in as deep as he is. I've been completely clean for a while now, but I was been on meth for 17 years, so I like to think I know enough to judge that this series is very good and one of the more realistic "fictional" portrayals of the whole tweaker thing.

default userpic

This show is exquisite. Its unique, raw, and doesnt hold back any punches. Its just what is needed to liven up the stale selection of shows on tv nowdays.
To those who dont like it all i have to say is go back to watching flavor of love and american idol if you want, but dont disrespect such a masterpeice just because you got thin skin and no taste.

default userpic

this is truly a great tv show. it is a TV show, its fictional. I really didn't have any interest in it until i couldn't sleep one night and caught the first three episodes. I am glad I did. I only read the first ten or so posts and i really couldn't believe much of what I'm hearing. If you are a recovering meth addict I'm not trying to belittle you or your experiences, but this is, as Mr. Rogers said,"The land of make believe." The writing on this show is as good as any, a clever show and honestly I don't think it is glorifying meth use or manufacture. There is at least one parent complaining of having to keep his children from watching this show, I live on the east coast it comes on at 10 pm, I attributed this to the fact AMC was trying to get an adult audience. I support the artistic freedom of the writers, producers, actors and anybody else associated with this show, if you don't like it don't watch it. Im glued to the tube and dissapointed we only got a seven episode season.

default userpic

To all those that are saying this show is horrible, trashy, or a problem for your sobriety/clean time, then maybe you shouldn't have watched the show! I too have been clean and sober now for 4 years and nothing about this show has triggered anything for me. If at all it has made me look back at my past and made me feel greatful for where I am at today. This show is funny, great storyline, and I don't feel as though there is a problem with what they (AMC) is doing. They are bringing up a subject up that is a problem in America, and the rest of the world and are showing situations that happen when you live this type of lifestyle. No one is glamorizing you can plainly see how this is affecting the characters lives and I hope AMC signs breaking bad for a second season. SO IF YOU DON"T LIKE IT THEN DON"T WATCH IT!!!

default userpic

What an incredible show. If people would get their heads out of their asses they would see that this show is more about our economic system rather than glamorizing meth and the culture. First of all I think this is the only show on television that breaks down chemistry and the different uses that it has on everyday life. I've heard of CSI and they use special effects to wow you rather than teach you something about chemistry. I mean who would've known that you needed a plastic tub for the acid so they could get rid of a body? I didn't, now I do.

It is a sad commentary about our health care and educational system. A teacher can't afford cancer treatments because of the HMO doesn't have the doctor on their list. What can he do? Oh yeah thats right take the money from his friend and end the show. Nope, explore what people do when they realize that life is over if they do nothing. Instead of the status quo and being passive go out and fight for your life...

The moral question is played through Walt Sr's head. Can you see the pain in his eyes. When someone reacts to his drug in a negative way, it pains him. But being with his family is what keeps him going. Thanks for the show and I love how you are exposing the issues of our crazy educational and medical systems.

default userpic

I think that the people who have posted negative comments about this show have forgotten that this is a TV SHOW. If they have actually watched it (which I really doubt) they would realize that this show does not "glorify" meth use or production. This show comes on late at night, if they are worried about their children watching it, well, they should already be asleep!!!!! And yes, for all of the naysayers, I do have children, 2 in fact.
Anyways, this show is absolutely awesome. I believe all of the actors have brought an terrific depth to their respective characters.

default userpic

This show is most definatly the only thing I look forward to on TV. It pains me to sit here and not know if a second season is comming out. I would also like to say that the people who commented on this show promoting the use, or manufacture of MethAmphetamine are lame. This again is another time where if you dont like it change the channel. You whiners are obviously to stupid to see the bigger picture, that it doesnt glorify use: do the crystal palace clientel look glamorous ? Furthermore the first like 4 episodes only involved 1 cook, and things went south for Jesse, and Walt, and only by the last episode started to improve. Breaking Bad also shows how aware the D.E.A is on Methamphetamine manufacture/trafficing so shame on you all for saying this promotes meth. This show is Brilliant, and it brings awareness to meth. Awareness is what people need so the can be more educated about drugs even beyond the scope of meth. We told children for years that marijuana was a horrible, and lethal.. look how well that worked.. The average age for frist time use of marijuana in the US is 16,as opposed to amsterdam where its 21, and pot is legal there. Awareness+education = good decisions.

This is very sad. Near me i have a drug rehab center and all the time there are a few people who check in. It makes me sad to see that are a lot of people who need help very fast and they don`t admit it. It`s too bad to see a close friend with a bad habit, a habit that he does not care about.

What a frustrating comment board -
I know you folks are all well-meaning, but you are nitwits to post such hostile comments on here without even seeing the show.
.
I have seen every episode, it does not promote drug use, if you actually WATCH the story it obviously shows the deep destruction that drugs cause - the show is about a man losing his way it is NOT PRO METH.
.
It is an intense, well-directed, well-written, superbly acted show that presents the world we really live in - conflicted characters who make bad choices and have to deal with the bad consequences.
.
.
Watch the show first AND THEN post your comments, is that so much to ask!?

The idiot comments on this board remind me of the nut Christians who scream any time a movie about Christ comes along. Does anyone recall in the 1970s, Zefferilli was directing "Jesus of Nazareth" and all the extreme Christers got their panties in a twist - to the point where the Vatican issued a statment against the film.
.
Then the movie aired on TV - SURPRISE. IT was the most beautiful pro-Christian movie ever made.
.
The Christers and the Vatican shut up and pretended they never said a thing.
.
WATCH THE FREAKIN' SHOW FIRST BEFORE YOU GET UPSET. Duh..

It's OK to have Sylvester Stallone inflict bodily harm upon someone or blow them away along with other many films and actors and actresses that play those parts also. Or commercials that have our children running around the house singing, Viva Viagra and so on. People need to learn to fight the real causes that are destroying our society and Nation instead of dwelling on fictional characters that are there for whom ever wants to view and enjoy them. So long as its at an hour children are asleep I see no problem. "Breaking Bad ROCK's"

Yeah I can completely relate I used to be a drug addict before I went to an outpatient rehab, so i've "broken" bad more times than I can count. PS the show is awesome.
